Two core fabrics for swimsuits: nylon vs. polyester, choose according to your needs without stepping on lightning
The popularity of swimming, beach vacations, and water sports continues to rise in the summer. Many people buy swimsuits only based on style and appearance, but ignore the most critical material. The same swimsuit, some people wear it a few times and it becomes loose, deformed, white and faded, and feels hot and stuffy close to the body, while others wear it all year round and still have elasticity and a stiff shape. The core difference comes entirely from the fabric base. Currently, over 95% of swimsuits on the market are based on nylon and Polyester Fibers, combined with spandex to enhance elasticity. Each fabric has its own advantages and disadvantages, suitable for completely different swimming scenes. By understanding the composition of the fabric, you can choose a durable and comfortable swimsuit with your eyes closed.
1、 Nylon fabric: mainstream for daily casual swimsuits, with a skin feel ceiling
Nylon is the preferred fabric for casual swimsuits and the most commonly used swimsuit material by the public. It is commonly known as Nylon Fabric in the industry, with a general ratio of 80% -85% nylon+15% -20% spandex, emphasizing ultimate skin friendly and soft fit.
Its biggest advantage is that it has a soft and smooth touch, fits snugly without any foreign body sensation, has excellent fabric extensibility, fits the curves of the human body, does not constrict or compress the skin, and has a stronger tolerance for body shape. It is very friendly to both slightly overweight people and beginners who pursue a comfortable body feel. At the same time, the nylon fabric has excellent drape, making the finished garment look slimmer. The printed colors are soft and delicate, and are mostly used for women's one-piece swimsuits, split swimsuits, children's casual swimsuits, and high-value vacation swimsuits.
However, nylon fabric has obvious shortcomings: chlorine elements in swimming pool water can slowly corrode the fabric, and long-term high-frequency swimming can easily lead to issues such as decreased elasticity, loose fabric, and yellowing color; And its water absorption rate is relatively high, it will slightly gain weight after being soaked in water, and the drying speed is moderate, which is not suitable for professional training personnel who soak in the swimming pool every day.

2、 Polyester fabric: standard for professional racing swimsuits, durable and anti hit king
Polyester, also known as polyester fiber, blended with high elasticity spandex, is a must-have fabric for professional athletes and high-frequency swimming enthusiasts. Its core selling points are strong chlorine resistance, high durability, fast drying, and low water absorption.
In response to the dual corrosion of swimming pool disinfection chlorine water and seaside seawater salt, polyester fabric has extremely strong chemical stability. Long term soaking will not cause hardening, yellowing, or loss of elasticity, and its service life is 2-3 times that of ordinary nylon swimsuits. At the same time, the fabric weaving density is higher, the water absorption rate is extremely low, and there is no water absorption or falling sensation when entering the water. The resistance during swimming is smaller, which meets the needs of racing sports; After landing, the wind can quickly dry out after a moment, bidding farewell to the uncomfortable feeling of wet swimsuits sticking to the body. In addition, polyester has stronger UV resistance and is not easily aged by outdoor seaside exposure. The printing is firm and does not fade after prolonged exposure to sunlight.
The only drawback is that the fabric has a slightly stiff feel, slightly less softness than nylon, and slightly weaker fit comfort. It places more emphasis on athletic performance rather than daily wear softness.
3、 A straightforward guide to purchasing, easy to understand at a glance
-Daily beach photography, occasional water play, pursuit of softness and comfort: choose nylon+spandex fabric, high appearance, comfortable upper body
-Daily pool training, long-term swimming in the sea, pursuit of durability and no deformation: choose polyester+spandex fabric, chlorine resistant and durable, with higher cost-effectiveness
-General key standard: The spandex content of high-quality swimsuits should not be less than 15%. If it is less than 10%, the elasticity is insufficient, which can easily cause tightness and poor rebound
Whether a swimsuit is easy to wear or not, style is secondary, and fabric is the core. Distinguish the compatibility scenarios between nylon and polyester, without blindly following the trend of high priced styles. Choose fabrics according to your own frequency of use, easily avoiding the pitfalls of deformation, fading, and discomfort when making purchases.
